Daily Wins

A habit tracker widget for your iPhone Home Screen and Lock Screen

The fastest habit tracker is the one you don't have to open. Daily Wins lets you check off habits right from a Home Screen widget, and shows your streak, quote and Win Meter on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

Why widgets matter more than features

Every habit tracker can record a habit. The question is how much friction sits between doing the habit and recording it. Open phone, find app, wait, find habit, tap. Each step is small, and together they're why so many trackers go stale by week three: you did the thing, you just didn't log it, and an unlogged habit feels like a missed one.

A widget removes most of that friction. Your habits are on the screen you already look at dozens of times a day, and checking one off is a single tap.

What the Daily Wins widgets do

Together they turn your phone into a quiet reminder system. You see the flame on the Lock Screen in the morning, tick a habit on the Home Screen at lunch, and watch the Win Meter fill without ever opening a list.

How to add the Home Screen widget

  1. Install Daily Wins and add at least one habit.
  2. Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  3. Tap Edit (top left), then Add Widget.
  4. Search for Daily Wins, swipe to choose a size, and tap Add Widget.
  5. Drag it where your thumb naturally lands. The first Home Screen page is best.

How to add the Lock Screen widget

  1. Touch and hold the Lock Screen, then tap Customize and choose the Lock Screen.
  2. Tap the widget area below the clock.
  3. Choose Daily Wins and the widget you want, then tap Done.

Where to put it (and why placement matters)

Placement is a habit cue in its own right. The widget works best where your eyes already go at the moment you do the habit:

Habit Good widget spot Why
Morning habits (water, journal) Lock Screen It's the first screen you see
Daytime habits (walk, stretch) Home Screen page 1 You pass it on every unlock
Evening habits (read, plan tomorrow) Home Screen, near your evening apps Next to the apps you open at night

If you like the idea of tying a habit to an existing routine, our habit stacking examples go further: the widget is the visual cue, and the stack is the behavioral one.

A two-minute widget routine

Here's a simple way to use the widget every day. In the morning, glance at your Lock Screen to see your streak and today's Win Meter. Unlock, do the 30-second check-in, and swipe to the page with the Home Screen widget. Through the day, tap habits off as you do them without opening the app. At night, one look tells you whether today is a win. That's the whole system, and most of it happens without a single app launch.

Widgets and streaks

Most broken streaks come from forgetting to log, not from failing to do. A visible flame on the Lock Screen is a gentle nudge before the day gets away from you, and a Home Screen tap is the quickest way to keep it alive. Pair the widget with a weekly target you can really hit, and with the free weekly Streak Freeze, and you have a streak that's hard to lose by accident. More on that in how streaks work.

Privacy on a visible screen

Lock Screen widgets are visible to anyone who can see your phone. Keep habit names neutral if that matters ("Evening routine" rather than something personal), or keep the detailed widget on the Home Screen only.

Questions

Can I check off habits from the widget?

Yes. The Daily Wins Home Screen widget lets you check off habits without opening the app.

What shows on the Lock Screen?

Your streak, a quote and your Win Meter can sit on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you can see your day without unlocking your phone.

Are widgets free?

Yes. Widgets are included in the free tier, along with up to 3 habits, the morning check-in, your main win, the daily insight and your streak flame.

Why doesn't my widget update right away?

iOS decides how often widgets refresh. If a widget looks out of date, open the app once, or remove and re-add the widget. Low Power Mode can also slow updates.
